Description

We are seeking a Set-up Engineer with very strong background in continuous improvement methods, ability to implement change, validate and recalibrate results combined with the confidence and persuasiveness to motivate a team to adapt to new processes and policies to instill continuous improvement and efficiency in their daily responsibilities. The position is with a tier 1 automotive parts supplier. This is a progressive organization that empowers their employees and promotes from within. Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in the Set-up of presses including reducing press set-up times through continuous improvement by utilizing Production System tools and activities
  • Responsible for supervision of all Press Set-up & Tooling Employees
  • Manage and coordinate all tool repairs from initial order to competition of the tool, including all related product fixtures and quality assurance equipment
  • Coordinate engineering design changes with tool room, production and product engineering
  • Training of all Tool Room and Set-up personnel and maintain a safe and tidy work environment in the tool room
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all set-up / production audits
  • Purchasing all material to build & repair molds and all tool room supplies
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, including providing instruction on a safe operations, necessary personal protective equipment and good housekeepingP 

Requirements

  • Mechanical Technologist or Mechanical Engineer with a preference given to those with Tool & Die background and experience
  • Strong analytical skills combined data analysis, validation and recalibration to measure incremental gains in efficiencies acquired through continuous improvement
  • In-depth, well rounded knowledge of Tooling with the ability to trouble shoot the set-up process
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and train employees to excel in their roles
