The position is with a tier 1 automotive parts supplier located in SW Ontario. They have an immediate requirement for a Quality Manager. This role will report to the Plant Manager. The primary function of this position is to cost effectively manage the Quality function to ensure that the customer quality requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Serve in the role of the Facility Management representative (FMR) and Corporate Department Liaison, having authority for establishing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  • Planning and co-ordination of new product launches, including all phases of Advance Quality Planning
  • Work closely with customers, Operating groups and suppliers to resolve quality related issues.
  • Development, implement and maintain quality procedures and processes in conformance to TS 16494 Standard.
  • Supervision of quality activities and personnel.
  • Provide quality –related technical advice to resolve quality matters and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Direct customer and vendor surveys to meet required business ratings.
  • Work in partnership with Production, Process, Engineering, Tooling, Materials, Sales, Human Resources, Finance and other functional areas to achieve business objectives of the site.
  • Manage department budget in a fiscally prudent manner.
  • Coach/ mentor staff to achieve continuous employee development.
  • All other related duties as assigned by the plant Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree / Diploma in related discipline and 5-8 years progressive experience in quality related functions
  • Certified Quality Engineer designation
  • 1-3 years supervisor experience
  • 3-5 years practical experience in Production, Engineering and Quality Systems in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong business competencies in the following areas: APQP, FMEAs, Statistical analysis, capability studies. SPC, continuous improvement planning, analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, underlying customer service approach
  • Strong interpersonal / behavioral competencies in the following areas: relationship building & management, employee development, written & oral communication
  • Lead Auditor training an asset
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Windows Email, networks) and MPACT Software
