Process Engineering Manager

Our Customer located in Southern Ontario has an immediate opening due to growth for a Process Engineering Manager.

This Customer specializes in the manufacture of interior plastic components, assemblies & tooling to the automotive industry.

Your fulfilling responsibilities would include leadership, organizational and management skills to be responsible for all aspects of manufacturing / process engineering, including advanced process engineering, in an Automotive Supplier Parts environment. You should have the ability to prioritize, develop and ensure the implementation of data driven continuous improvement initiatives as well as scrap and cost reduction initiatives. Senior Automation Designer

Major Duties:

Works with the customer and company design team and project manager to design the system solutions, including hardware and software that meet the customer's process requirements for a prototype machine or systems.  The design incorporates as many standard modules and tools as is practical.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop and verify systems design concept and labour hours budget in quote preparation.
  • Accountable for the systems engineering, including analysis and design, of all aspects of a machine, such as system accuracy, cycle time, vibration, thermal, metrology/instrumentation, kinematics and reliability/maintainability.
  • Responsible for learning a customer process and becoming the local expert in it, to support the design and eventually the integration of the machine once it is built.
  • Provide engineering support to company’s worldwide divisions.

  • Ensure that design requirements are appropriate, documented, reviewed and approved.
  • Evaluate design output for conformance to design input requirements.
  • Plan and conduct design reviews at appropriate stages of design development.
  • Responsible for documenting the results of design review in the design history file.
  • Conduct design verifications to confirm that design output meets the design input requirement.

  • Postsecondary degree in Systems Design, Engineering Physics, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Six years of experience in systems design, development and qualification of factory automation projects.
  • Understanding of robotics, vision systems, machine controls, structured problem solving, DOE, statistical analysis, precision engineering and GAMP.

Control Systems Software Designer

Must Have Skills

Paint/Manufacturing Engineer

Our Client has an immediate need for a Paint/Manufacturing Engineer.  The successful candidate will have the experience of setting up a paint line in a facility, can work on building, implementing, and troubleshooting a paint line from start to finish.  This may include designing parts of it, and will certainly include installation, testing, costing, etc. The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills, engineering paint background, ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.

The successful candidate MUST have proven experience in the following:

  • Painting experience with metal parts including various types of steel.

  • Experience in wet and powder paint process.

  • Experience with pre treatment processes.

  • Robotic experience.

  • Jigs and fixture design.

  • Paint experience working with diverse parts, low volumes and high volumes.

Automation Engineering Vision Manager

Scope & Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the activities of a group of vision designers within the automation engineering department using specialized knowledge of general engineering principles and conceptual design and development of machine vision, laser, and optic systems.
  • Assess workload, assign staff to engineering projects and oversee the completion of solutions according to specific deadlines and project schedules.
  • Review project schedules on a timely basis to ensure the vision portion of projects are completed on time and take corrective action, coordinating with other departments as required.
  • Provide engineering expertise for projects progressing through the manufacturing and system installation stages to overcome and correct problems and technical difficulties.  Keep track of engineering change notices through designers and project managers.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations, recommend salary adjustments, and initiate personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures for staff reporting to him/her.
  • Act as main contact for specific projects and/or key customers, travel to customer sites and work closely with their engineering staff.
  • Provide technical sales support to the sales and marketing department when quoting new business.  
  • Interview and select applicants on their technical qualifications and suitability for positions in the department when hiring new personnel.
  • Set objectives on a yearly basis that align with business unit objectives and track progress throughout the year on those objectives.
  • Support the business unit quality system by maintaining ISO procedures, conducting a departmental audit and responding to CARs.
  • Hold departmental communications meetings on a regular basis (minimum once per quarter).
  • Measure departmental throughput and rework and develop improvement plans where required.
  • Support employee training by analyzing needs on an annual basis.
  • Review employee remuneration annually; make adjustments when warranted.
  • With the Director, collaborate on developing a departmental budget on an annual basis.
  • Develop outside suppliers in anticipation of overload situations.

Chief Engineer/ 2nd Class Stationary

Our Customer, located in Mississauga, requires a 2nd Class Stationary Engineer. You would be in charge of the total operation of the food processing plant in accordance with the TSSA Act 2000. This is the flagship plant of a national food processor. This position is open due to staff movement to another facility. This position reports through to Maintenance and you would ensure total care and control of a large ammonia-refrigerated plant.

The long term potential in the food processing industry is very good. It is a service industry and we consumers are demanding more local fresh, healthy and safe packaged food in Ontario. There is a high level of authority and responsibility in this position. The latest and best technology in the world is used and sustained. The career growth potential is to Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager in this or one of several other facilities. The salary income is targeted at 80 K plus.

You must possess a valid and current certificate as a 2nd Class Stationary Engineer at all times. We would like you to have 7 plus years of maintenance experience in a unionized environment. This position is not in the union.
